Outside

When it is full on sunshine and 70 Degrees in January, we take full advantage.  Some baseball helped to get us out of the winter weather blahs.  We even had a ball dog so that nobody had to run and get the ball.  My poor little man has been sick all week with Congestion and Fever so this was a huge treat to get outside and enjoy!

Salty Brownie Love

My mouth is watering right now.  I just read about my favorite thing in the world...cupcakes.    I seriously can't imagine anything so bad that a cupcake couldn't fix it.  I love everything about them from the cute wrapper to the extravagant topper and all of the magnificent flavors that can be played with.

I have a sweet friend who I absolutely believe God played part in intersecting our lives.  As of last August, I had never heard the name Danielle Noonan.  Halfway through September Ryder received a Birthday invite for a little boy in his class.  I RSVP'd via email and Danielle responded. That same week my Bible Study started back up for the year and Danielle's name was on the roster.  The strange part is that we don't attend Bible Study at the boy's preschool.  I figured at this point we were destine to be friends.

She and her husband are amazing people and are currently carrying out God's work through adopting a baby girl from Ethiopia.  Danielle's Blog, Salty Brownies, is a must read!  It gives updates on their family, the adoption process and all of Danielle's yummy treats.  Danielle is a baker at heart and currently uses her gift to help raise funds for their adoption.  Her lemon cupcakes are what sent me into this mouth watering frenzy.  By clicking on her Ethiopia or Bust button you can order some of these yummy cupcakes! Y'all go take a look and make your mouth's water like mine!

A little bit Valentine

Y'all know I love decorating for holidays, but Valentine's has never really been my thing.  I found a cute idea for a "Valentine's" door wreath though. I really don't have a good wreath for the door that seasonally fits the time period right after Christmas and before Easter..so I gave in and made this cute cupcake wrapper wreath.

I first saw the idea on Tatertots & Jello.  I love her and all of her stinkin' cute ideas!  So super easy y'all!  If I can do it...anybody can!

I used a larger wreath form than what is in the directions.  It took 3 packages of wrappers to create the fullness I wanted.

I found these little heart bowls at Target for $2.49 each.  Add some candy and you have an instant centerpiece!  Simple, simple, simple ideas to add some color to the blah of winter.

I love...

I love this little boy and his hobo style.  I also love his Pediatrician who makes me feel like I'm her friend and not some crazy mom who is freaking out because her 17-month old baby doesn't walk.  She hugs me and she even sends handwritten thank you notes to our house when we do something not even that great, like slipping her a bath and body works candle right before Christmas.  She is the best.  I'll keep you all posted on this little man's walking and I promise not to play google doctor anymore...which sent me into a frenzy over the weekend.  I was positive there was something scary wrong with him...which right now doesn't seem to be the case...his brain is just focused on talking and not walking right now.

Praying for an All Clear

Update:  He looks great!!!!  We just have one more obstacle to overcome and see the Doctor in the morning to hopefully get some easy answers!

We go to the Doctor today at 11:30 a.m. for an "All Clear" on Rustin's New Year's Eve surgery.  Please say a quick prayer that the problem has been put to bed for good!!

Stinker

Things have gotten way too easy around here...let's spice things up a bit.  Mom....I've decided no naps for me.  I mean seriously....I'm 16 months old now.  Really, I am way too old for naps.  I know my older brother still takes naps...and I'm cool with that.  I'll just hang out in your room and lounge around your bed while he naps.  That absolutely will not bother me a bit.  Oh...and don't you try sticking me in my bed if I yawn or accidentally rub my eyes...I'll cry until I puke...promise! ...Rustin

Congrats!

I've watched this sweet girl grow up for more than 20 years.  She is my little sister's best friend.  They have played together, laughed together, and cried together.

On Sunday she walked up these steps and said "I do...".  Congratulations sweet girl!

You have grown into a beautiful woman and it was a beautiful day!

You won't need these shoes to carry you on this new adventure...love will see you through.  I am so glad we could be there with you on this very special day.  London will be amazing, but we'll all miss you here at home.  Can't wait to see you again!

Recipe Card Holder

I could say that I was looking for a way to hold my index sized recipe cards and designed this plate to do the job...but that really wasn't the case.  I was looking for something cute to hang on the wall and cover an outlet plate in the dining room.  I think the dining room at the "new house" (as Ryder calls our home) was designed to be either a dining or office/study space.  There are phone jacks in places that I would have never put them (high up on the wall).  I found this plate at Home Goods and picked it up with the idea of placing a piece of silverware on it for a simple wall hanging that would cover the outlet plate.  Obviously, that didn't work out...but I did realize while doing all of our Christmas baking that it holds index sized recipe cards really well and it looks cute sitting out on the counter.  Just an idea for ya!!  Still looking for something to cover the outlet plate.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from our family to yours!  Hope 2011 fills you with many smiles!  Our littlest man had surgery on Friday to correct an issue that occurred when he was born.  They are resilient at this age...He is happy as can be and acts as if nothing ever happened...thank goodness!
